Corals release eggs and sperm

Right now in February, the corals release eggs and sperm. It is important to be quick and suck them up so that fertilization can take place in the laboratory. The small larvae that are formed should then be used in studies of larval behaviour and adherence. The surface structure and shape of the artificial reefs will be evaluated and refined in the laboratory before being tested in the field.
